    What’s behind the name?

The name “Quintessential” was inspired by the book “The Fifth Discipline”.

The Fifth Discipline: The Art and Practice of the Learning Organisation by Peter Senge (a scholar at MIT) explores group problem solving and the creation of learning organisations. It introduces five disciplines with which to develop the following three learning capabilities.

    • fostering aspiration
    • developing reflective conversation, and
    • understanding complexity

Putting purpose & people over profit

We leverage the following disciplines as the foundational principles for what we do and how we work. They are:

Personal Mastery:  continually clarifying and deepening our personal vision of focusing our energies, developing our patience, and better understanding our current reality.

Mental Models: challenging our deeply held assumptions that influence how we understand the world and how we take action.

Building Shared Vision: unearthing common desires that foster genuine commitment rather than compliance.

Team Learning: open dialogue and suspending judgement to create an environment where team members can ‘think independently together’

    And is all underpinned by…

    Systems Thinking:

A framework for seeing interrelationships rather than things, for seeing patterns rather than static snapshots and appreciating the whole strategic picture rather than what is at face value. By employing systems thinking, we help you gain a deeper understanding of complex problems that you encounter, create more resilient and sustainable systems and ultimately make more effective decisions.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work and recognise these lands as a place of family, community and learning.

As the world’s oldest living cultures, we recognise that Australia always has been and always will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land. We who come from many places pay our respects to Elders throughout all time and commit to learning from the knowledge, traditions, stories, spirituality and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as we learn to live on their land.

We walk together to solidarity to recognise the pain of the past and to share our hopes for the future.
